What is supported living?
Supported Living is the term given by Local Authorities to encompass a range of services designed to help disabled people retain their independence in their local community.

Location

Hindhead Supported Living Service support tenants to live a full and independent life at   The Old Manse, Salima and The Ferns, all located in the village of Beacon Hill, near Hindhead.

The village offers a range of community shops including a post office, chemist, dentist, chemist, newsagents, butchers, off license, cafe and convenience store. 

Beacon Hill has social, sporting and religious amenities.  There are local pubs, restaurants, takeaways and nearby country walks including Frensham ponds, Waggoners Wells and Devils Punchbowl National Trust grounds.

Grayshott village is nearby which provides a GP surgery, Grayshott Pottery, Grayshott Spa and further pubs and shops. There are also larger towns nearby that are accessible by train or bus such as Farnham, Haslemere, Aldershott and Guildford. Guildford is the nearest big town which is great for shopping and visits to the cinema and theatres.

Facilities

Whitmore Vale Housing Association is the Landlord that provides housing related support for adults that live at The Old Manse, The Ferns and Salima. Hindhead Supported Living Service supports adults with Autism, a learning disability and/or additional mental health needs to live in the community. 

The Old Manse is a detached six bedroomed house suitable for six tenants. It has a sitting room, dining room, large kitchen, laundry room, bathrooms and a wet room, a separate toilet and a very large garden with patio area.  The Old Manse provides an office for staff who are based at The Old Manse during the day and evening with an on-call telephone service after office hours.

Salima is a three-bedroomed, semi-detached house near to the Old Manse and suitable for up to three tenants. It has a kitchen, conservatory, sitting room, downstairs toilet and upstairs bathroom.  Staff visit the tenants at Salima on a daily basis to provide support however the tenants can telephone or visit The Old Manse at any time during office hours with an on-call telephone service outside these hours for emergency support.

The Ferns offers modern, self-contained accommodation providing independent living for adults with autism, learning disabilities and/or mental health needs.    All kitchens are fitted with a Misting system activated in the event of fire. This new build community living consists of varying styles of accommodation.

The Ferns provides two storey accommodations with a private front door entrance to a sitting room with dining and kitchen area and a bedroom and bathroom upstairs.

There is also ground level individual purpose-built accommodation comprising of spacious and modern single occupancy one bedroom flats with sitting room, kitchen and wet room and shared two-bedroomed accommodation each with their own wet room facility, shared kitchen and sitting room.
